About this programme

An advanced programme for people who will formulate or blend. It follows one product from brief to release: setting targets, selecting components, managing interactions, blending, bench screening and documentation.

Places are confirmed by the academy. Applicants should hold UTR-201 or have equivalent experience.

What you will be able to do

  • Translate a performance brief into measurable targets
  • Select components and anticipate their interactions
  • Write and follow a blending procedure with quality checks
  • Plan a bench-test programme and document the result

Lessons

  1. Setting formulation targets

Specifications, claims and the limits that frame a formulation.

  2. Component selection and interactions

    Synergy, antagonism and solubility.

  3. Blending procedure and quality control

Order of addition, temperature, mixing and release checks.

  4. Bench screening tests

Choosing tests that answer the question asked.

  5. Documentation and release

Data sheets, safety data and the batch record.

Who it is for

  • Formulation chemists
  • Blending-plant supervisors
  • Quality managers
